On November 6, 2025 at 19:06, FUNCINATING opened pre-sales for the ZIYU × GISMOW limited gift box on its Tmall flagship store. All 52,000 sets sold out in nine seconds. Before the sale even started, more than 437,000 people had added the box to their carts, and the drop brought in around 10.35 million RMB. Those numbers are for this single gift box, not the whole GISMOW line.
The box was built around one idea: companionship. It held two limited GISMOW figures co-designed by ZIYU. The first, "Companionship," shows GISMOW hugging a little fish, a quiet stand-in for staying by someone's side. The second is a plain white "Free Space" figure, left blank on purpose so the owner can paint it and make it their own. Alongside the figures came a set of four collectible cards with a magnetic stand, a handwritten letter from ZIYU, and an exclusive box.
The release also had a charity side. It ran in partnership with the Bazaar Charitable Foundation and Weibo Public Welfare, tying the launch to a cause instead of leaving it a pure product drop.
The speed was less about luck than setup: a global ambassador with a large, engaged following, a clearly capped run of 52,000, and a checkout flow ready for the surge. Demand did not stop at the mainland launch. In December 2025, an overseas edition of 18,888 sets went out through TikTok Shop, Shopee, AliExpress, and the FUNCINATING official overseas store.
